Ice Dance Competition 14 June 2011
The last dance club competition of the season took place on Tuesday and was one of of most heavily subscribed competitions to date. With the British Solo Dance Championships at the end of the month there was a high level of entries and requests for additional pattern dance classes. Even with extra ice time the schedule was tight but with our Club Dance Competition Secretary Lyn A’Court at the helm and judges Jane Brown, Christine Harper and Graham Perrin writing at the speed of light everyone was accommodated. The standard of the skating was excellent and presentations took place in the off ice room. The club chair took the opportunity to ask those present if they would prefer a ‘Simulation’ as an alternative to a competition. This idea was suggested by Jane Brown and involves the judges giving constructive and helpful feedback to the skaters prior to a major competitive event. The response by coaches, parents and skaters was positive and it is hoped that this can be organised for next season.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank Lyn for all her hard work in organising the dance competitions this year and to helpers Debbie and Mark Stevens, Sophia Sallons, Toni Barratt and Allison Brown.
