James Plumer who is the ice rink manager at Bracknell has asked for the club’s
support to promote the following charity event to our members – please see
details below.
Dogs Helping
Kids is a unique, small and struggling charity which uses specially trained
assistance dogs in schools across the country to help teach children non
violence, empathy, respect, kindness , love, responsibility friendship and
trust. Academic Research has also shown that dogs working in the school
environment also help to improve literacy skills and academic achievement. The
effect these very special and highly trained dogs has on the lives of the
children they work with is amazing. It costs around five thousand pounds to
train one of these special dogs all of which comes from kind donations and
support.
One of these
school dogs is Lilly (my dog) and works in a Berkshire special educational needs
school, every penny made makes a huge difference to this very special small
charity and in turn the children they help. I'm hoping to help this special
charity as much as possible through a fundraising ball and auction taking place
at the Coppid Beech hotel, Berkshire, in May.
I am aware that
you may already have charities that you support however if there was any way
that you would be able to help us raise money by offering us a prize to
auction/raffle no matter how small or consider attending
the
event as guests it would be hugely appreciated.
