Bracknell Ice Skating Club Email Newsflash - August 2015
We are pleased to announce that the annual BISC Gala will take place on
Friday 25th September from 6pm - 8pm.
The aim of the Gala is to exhibit our member’s recent achievements and successes and to create a line up that spans all ages, disciplines and demonstrates a range of skating abilities.
The gala will feature a number of solo or small group slots, synchro, Ice Ability, the NTC show number and an opening number. In order to participate in the gala you need to fill in and return the attached form via email to joannboland@hotmail.co.uk by Wednesday 26th August.
Rehearsals for the opening number will take place on Tuesday and Thursday evening club ice between September 8th and 24th September . You must be able to attend rehearsals in order to participate. Further details will be posted on the club website.
For those of you wishing to sign up for individual or
small group slots please read the selection criteria so that you are aware of
how the slots will be allocated.
Please note: This year instead of small free and dance group numbers we
will be having one big opening number that will be longer than usual in order to
showcase our skaters of all levels and disciplines. This number is open to all
BISC members.
Selection Criteria
All skaters must be BISC members in order to take part in the Gala.
Skaters of NISA level one and above must be current members of NISA to perform
in the gala in order to protect their eligibility. With the exception of any
guest exhibitions, solo slots will be allocated to BISC members who have
represented Bracknell at an open competition, NISA event, or the NTC between
September 2014 and August 2015. Skaters must have competed in the level they are
applying for between these dates. Selection will depend on IJS scores.
In the case of there being multiple skaters applying in any category,
priority will go to the highest achieved IJS score. In the case of there being
no one applying for a category slot(s) may be allocated elsewhere.
Skaters who are skating in the NTC show number or synchronised skating groups
can also apply for a solo slot. Skaters may apply for more than one solo or
small group slot (e.g. dance and artistic), however skaters will only be
allocated one slot. Allocations will take into account the overall balance of
the Gala to maintain audience appeal.
Skaters who have achieved Level 8 in either Dance or Free but have not
competed, so do not have an IJS score, may also apply for a solo slot. However
priority will be given to those competing for the club if there are multiple
applicants.
