b       Bracknell Ice Skating Club Email Newsflash - August 2017

We are pleased to announce that the annual BISC Gala will take place on Friday 29th September from 6pm – 8.00pm.

The aim of the Gala is to exhibit our member’s achievements and successes and to create a lineup that spans all ages, disciplines and demonstrates a range of skating abilities.

The gala will feature a number of solo or small group slots, synchro, Ice Ability, the NTC show number and a big opening number that all BISC members can join in.

Opening number

In order to participate in the opening number, skaters must have been BISC members during the 2016-2017 season and have completed the attached application form and submitted it to:

Applications to take part in the opening number must be received by Tuesday 5th September 2017.

Rehearsals for the opening number will take place on Tuesday evenings as follows:

Tuesday 19th September 17.45 - 18.45

Tuesday 26th September 17.45 - 18.45

You must be able to attend rehearsals in order to participate.

Solo slots

Solo skaters will be ‘invited’ to take up a slot on the programme by the gala sub-committee following the receipt of the completed application form (attached).  Making an application will not mean automatic entry for a solo slot as there is a selection process. If your application is successful you will be invited to take part.

Please be aware that applications to take part must be received by Tuesday 5th September 2017.  We look forward to receiving your applications.

This year the soloists will be invited to participate based on the criteria below.

Invitations to skate in a solo slot will be sent out by Sunday 10th September.

Selection Criteria for Solo slots

All skaters must be BISC members in order to take part in the Gala. Skaters of NISA level one and above must be current members of NISA to perform in the gala in order to protect their eligibility.

With the exception of any guest exhibitions, solo slots (in the first instance) will be allocated to BISC members who have represented Bracknell at an open competition, NISA event, or the NTC between September 2016 and August 2017.

We recognize that it has been more difficult to compete this year with the reduced number of events.  Please do not let that stop you from applying for a place, but do bare in mind that (as mentioned above) there are no guarantees that a slot will be awarded.

The sub committee will take into account the overall balance of the Gala to maintain audience appeal and there may be more than one skater in some categories.

Please send all applications for solo slots to:
